About Vedas:
  -Vedas are the ancient scripts, written in Sanskrit, originated from ancient India, extended far beyond any geographical lines and used around the globe. These ancient scriptures are highly developed sciences, offer a platform  to bring peace, prosperity and philosophical enrichment  of the human civilization.
  -Vedic texts may be categorized into four classes: the Samhitas, Brahmanas, Aranyakas, and Upanishads
  Samhitas Samhitas, also referred as Vedas, are the collections of hymns, mantras, and chants
    There are four main streams of Vedas,namely  Rigveda, Samveda, Yajurveda and Atharvaveda. From these Vedas, numerous scriptures have been evolved to provide guidance  to mankind.
    -Each Veda is designated to addresses an important state of human life. Few of those states are mentioned below.
     
  Brahmanas ब्राह्मण -Brahmanas is a part of "Shruti" (meaning what we hear), heard from the Rishis and then documented more like commentaries or elaborations of Vedic texts.
    ~Brahmanas are embedded in Vedic Samhitas.
  Aranyakas   Aranyakas carry the textual contexts those were written in an isolation and added as the contributions from individuals or  school of thoughts those grew independently.
         
        Aitareya Aranyaka is a part of Rigeveda (Shakala Shakha of Rigveda) ,where as Taittiriya Aranyaka is a part of Taittiriya Shakha of Krishna-Yajurveda
         
  Upanishad     Upanishads contains Philosophical dialogues, also know as Vedanta (the end of the Vedas. deals with the nature of reality, of the life self- realization Brahman, the totality.
         
       

Upavedas (5) :
Arthaveda unfolds statecraft, Nishastr; 1
Ayurveda (derived from Rig Veda),  describes medicine and health;
Dhanurveda (derived from Yajurveda), represents military science;
Gandharvaveda (derived from Samveda), elaborates music and the arts.
Sthapatyaveda (derived from Athravaved), explains the science of architecture.

Shastras (to denote education /knowledge)
~Nyaya (go into the subject, through logical reasoning)
~Vaishehik (deals with physics and chemistry of the body and the universe. The theory of atomic structure was established by this school.
~Samkya (Enumeration; Samkya is a dualistic philosophy that believes in two coexistent and independent realities pure consciousness sprit and prakriti matter the manifest relative world.
~Yoga (deals with all aspects of human personality and teaches one how to control the modifications of the mind through practice of meditation.
~Mimamsa (deals with rituals, worship, ethical conduct and analysis of the science of mantra)
~Vedanta: Veda means "knowledge", and "anta"  means end.

~Jyotish: Astronomy and astrology
~Nirukta: History of words.
~Chandas: measurements of syllables.
~Shiksha: Sanskrit meaning of Shiksha.

Some of the Puranas (tales of ancient times, referring to Hindu writings or Scriptures)
~Bhagawtam purana (deals with all the incarnation of Vishnu)
~Matsya purana (deals with the incarnation of Matsya)
~Skanda purana (deals with the slaughter of the demon).
~Agni purana (deals with arts and science, JJyotish and architecture)
~Gurada purana (deals with JJyotish, Structure /quality of diamond, Vedic medicine, grammar and the last part with life after death).
~Vishnu purana (deals with primary actions of Varahakalpa)
~Varaha purana (deals with holy places and mantras)
~Siva purana (deals with instructions give by Shiva in the form of linga)
~Bhavishva purana (deals with future events and praises the worship of Sun, Fire and Serpent).
~Markandeva purana (deals with praises about the goddess Durga).
~Brahmavaivarta purana (deals with creation of the universe).
~Padma purana (deals with the importance of all months and the lotus seat of Brahma)
~Naradiva purana (deals with a summary of everything)
~Gita (song of God)
